How the result is calculated
Words are counted from whitespace-separated text; characters include spaces and punctuation. The tool also estimates sentences and reading time using a general reading-speed assumption.
Worked example
A 450-word draft will show 450 words and an estimated reading time of roughly two minutes at about 225 words per minute.
What to keep in mind
Different platforms define words and characters differently, especially for emojis, URLs, hyphenated terms, and Unicode characters. For a strict submission limit, confirm the count in the destination platform too.
