Discount Calculator
Calculate the sale price and dollar savings from a discount.
Discount formula
Sale price = original price × (1 − discount percentage ÷ 100).
When to use this tool
Use this calculator to find the sale price after a percentage discount and the dollar amount saved. It works for store promotions, coupons, and quick price comparisons.
How the result is calculated
Multiply the original price by the discount percentage to find the savings. Subtract those savings from the original price, or multiply the original price by one minus the discount rate.
Worked example
A 25% discount on $100 saves $25 and produces a $75 sale price. A second discount should be applied to the already-discounted price rather than simply added to the first percentage.
What to keep in mind
Sales tax, shipping, exclusions, minimum purchases, and stacked-promotion rules are not included unless they are part of the price you enter.
